Plunkett was given an emergency call-up this week as England's injury crisis struck hard to deplete their bowling stocks.
The Durham right-armer was with the England Lions in St Kitts in the Caribbean when he received his call to make the arduous journey to Perth for Sunday's final game of a series, which England trail 5-1.
"I went from St Kitts to Miami and then Miami to Heathrow. I was there for 10 hours so I had a sleep there and then went to Singapore and here," Plunkett said.
"It was actually my sleep-in day when found out. I was going to sleep until 10 o'clock and then go to the gym and then I got the call from (ECB performance director) Dave Parson that I was on the next flight out.
"But I've been here two nights now. I've had plenty of time to rest and slept on the plane thanks to some sleeping tablets."
