Its not just the fact that seven 50-over internationals, plus two Twenty20s, have been packed into 26 days. Its also the constant cycle of flying and changing hotel beds every three days.
Collingwood is the second man, after Graeme Swann, to be forced back to England by a back spasm. Then there are the hamstring and side injuries that have already eliminated Ajmal Shahzad and Chris Tremlett from the squad, plus Tim Bresnans torn calf.
As we approach Sundays seventh and final one-day international at the Waca, both teams have lost six members of their starting line-up to injuries or niggles at some point along the road.
Little wonder, then, that Australia have decided to protect their most valuable assets captain Michael Clarke and star all-rounder Shane Watson by resting them from Sundays finale.
Adam Voges, of Western Australia and Nottinghamshire, has thus been called into the party as batting cover, while the out-of-favour off-spinner Jason Krejza will get a rare run-out thanks to the problems afflicting Nathan Hauritz (dislocated shoulder) and Xavier Doherty (sore back).
